Nowhere else can you find so many high-quality mobility test facilities and research laboratories in one place. The campus and organisations such as TNO, TASS International, VDL, WaterstofNet, Altran, and Rijkswaterstaat have the opportunity to use the modern test and research facilities to research new smart mobility and green mobility technologies. Not only the businesses and knowledge institutes at the campus, but organisations and governments from across the globe come to Helmond to use the test facilities and become inspired.
Did you know that many famous car brands crash test their prototypes at the Automotive Campus, before they put their cars on the global market? It also contains Europe's largest rolling road, which is used for all kinds of tests. And we haven't even mentioned the powertrain tests, virtual reality testing, research on CO2-emissions, and the research done in the climate control room, which can simulate extreme weather conditions. The Automotive Campus has many indoor and outdoor test locations, simulators, and control rooms for testing innovations.
Right alongside the campus you can find one of the showpieces of our living lab: the A270 motorway. A miles long real life test location equipped with cameras, transponders, and Wi-Fi beacons, connected to a high-end control room, the Traffic Innovation Centre. Completely unique. That is why international businesses and governments are regularly invited to see the innovative research and be inspired. Here in the top technological Brainport region, where interesting European projects are developed, the facilities and campus give an important impulse to the Dutch Automotive sector, and to the sharing of knowledge and innovation in the region.
