On Tuesday, June 17, in the middle of a dynamic week at the Automotive Campus in Helmond and in tropical temperatures of above 30 degrees, no fewer than 115 entrepreneurs chose to delve into digital security. Their motivation? They want to get serious about protecting their business from cybercrime.
During the cybercrime event, participants heard the personal story of an entrepreneur who became a victim of digital scams. They learned from an ethical hacker as well as getting hands-on in interactive workshops. All with one goal: to be better prepared for digital threats.
3 tips to get started today:
Use strong passwords
An 8-character password can be cracked in seconds. Choose passwords of at least 16 characters and use a unique password for each account. Don't forget your private accounts, too. A password manager will help you get started safely.
Turn on two-step verification
For all accounts - both business and private. This extra layer of security makes it much harder for cybercriminals to gain access.
Create a contingency plan
What do you do if your IT system goes down? Who do you call? What is the first step? Think this through in advance and document it.
