The Central Bureau of Statistics announced the regional economic development of Q1 2021. Compared to a year earlier, all regions show contraction. With the exception of the Brainport region, with a growth of 2%.
This shows the importance of creating future-proof and export-oriented high-tech ecosystems. This is the reason why many, emphatically call for investing in innovative ecosystems (such as Brainport, Wageningen, Delft) and new key technologies.
The Netherlands has an unprecedented export position: we are ranked 6th worldwide. To maintain a sustainable basis as 'financier of our prosperity' the nature will have to change step by step to sustainable and circular goods and services. Then export will remain the foundation of our prosperity for generations to come.
